The regulator converts that AC power into direct current (DC) power that the battery can store, while also ensuring the correct amount of voltage is delivered.

Since the battery can't power the motorcycle on its own, you run the risk of getting stranded by the side of the road if your alternator fails. Signs include a misfiring engine, difficulty starting your motorcycle, dimming lights, and a poorly performing engine. If you experience any of these symptoms, you'll need to check your charging system to determine the source of the problem.
